The NRA Shotgun Instructor training is 8-10 hours in length, This is where candidates will demonstrate the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude for conducting a course. The course is a combination of lessons and role-playing, We’ll go through the instructor’s requirements and you’ll get a chance to practice teaching skills in the classroom and on the range. Candidates will be required to demonstrate safe firearms handling skills, pass a written exam by 90% and shoot the Instructor qualification course.
After passing the course a log-in is created, instructor candidates will have to pay the two year NRA Instructor Certification fee. The fee is $35 for NRA members or $60 for non-NRA members. This fee is paid to the NRA every two years in order to maintain the NRA Instructor Certification. Currently there is no renewal training required by the NRA. Once the fees are paid the certification becomes official and the completion certificate, NRA Instructor ID card, and all other NRA Instructor benefits become available.
